Science dome

The Science Dome can accommodate 193 visitors and displays the most recent scientific films. These movies encourage visitors to lend due importance to the to science and technology. The films are designed to be interesting and encourage viewers to interact with and become part of the movie.  This goal is accomplished by using state of the art IMAX and DIGI STAR devices. There are shows about space, unique physical phenomena and other scientific areas of study. The Science Dome is oneo f the first of its type in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.

The concept behind the IMAX experience is to inundate the spectator with larger-than-life images accompanied by crystal clear digital sound effects so as to create an immersion environment. The apparatus used to display IMAX films is considered to be the most powerful in the realm of cinema display, distinguished by it’s clarity of picture. The lamp used in this device is so powerful that it can be seen from the surface of the moon!

IMAX films are engineered so as to be displayed on a curved screen with a diameter of 24 meters! Currently showing on the IMAX screen are the following films:

  • Deep Sea : Through the magic of IMAX technology, audiences will be transported below the ocean surface to swim with some of the planet’s most unique, dangerous and colorful creatures, from the unusual Wolf Eel to the Giant Pacific Octopus. ‎ ‎
  • Journey to Mecca : tells the story of Ibn Battuta, (Played by Chems Eddine Zinoun) a young scholar, who leaves Tangier in 1325 on an epic and perilous journey, traveling alone from his home in Morocco to reach Mecca, some 3,000 miles to the east. Ibn Battuta is besieged by countless obstacles as he makes his way across the North African desert to Mecca. Along the route he meets an unlikely stranger, the Highwayman (Played by Hassam Ghancy) who becomes his paid protector and eventual friend. During his travels he is attacked by bandits, dehydrated by thirst, rescued by Bedouins, and forced to retrace his route by war-stricken Red Sea.
  • Arabia 3D (NEW): Arabia 3D takes viewers deep into an exotic land steeped in 2,000 years of ancient history and unique customs not found anywhere else in the world. As if on a magic carpet ride across this desert kingdom, audiences will discover the lost city of Madain Saleh, explore its ancient tombs, travel with a camel caravan along the early frankincense trade route, survive a desert sandstorm, dive the coral reefs and shipwrecks of the Red Sea, experience the warmth of the world-famous Bedouin hospitality, and join in the annual hajj pilgrimage, where 2 million Muslims gather in Mecca in the single largest gathering of people on Earth.   They will also discover modern day Arabia, which finds itself in the midst of monumental change.
